Japanese Kanji

Kanji are abstract letters.

Comprising one of Japan's writing systems, Kanji (Chinese Characters) are said to have come from China during the first century A.D.

When we trace the history of Kanji, in many cases we discover the characters depict things and phenomena in nature.
Once you know their origins, even complicated-looking Kanji may become familiar.

The Yama signifies the shape of a mountain seen in the distance.
The Kawa represents the shape of a river cutting through the land.
The Ki shows the shape of a tree with a strong roots and branches spreading out.
